Thistle Entry (pg. 170)

Pi Kappa Alpha was founded at the University of Virginia in 1868 by six boys who had fought side by side in the Civil War. As Pi Kappa Alpha rounds out three-score and ten years of life it finds itself well established among the national college fraternities. There are now 20,000 members in eighty chapters.

Pi Kappa Alpha is represented in Student Council, sports, publications, honoraries, class offices, and varsity football. The greatest honor to come recently to this chapter was their winning the Wilson B. Heller Plaque, which is awarded annually to the outstanding chapter of the national fraternity. Besides winning the intermural bowling trophy, they rank second among the campus fraternities in scholarship.

The Pi Kappa Alpha's season has been a notable one for social activities. They have had a Barn Dance in the Fall, a Christmas Dance, the Spring Formal, a Founder's Day Banquet, a Mothers' Club card party, and many informal dances.
